//MEET DREAMA
Why hello,

I am a dreamer by heart. I think my mother knew this the day I was born. I often wonder what it would be like to live in a B&W world. When editing photos, I can’t wait to see what B&W will look like. I realized my passion for making photography when I was required to take photography for my degree in Graphic Design. So here I am, creating away!

I could spend hours cuddled up with a book & blanket. I tend to hoard books, even after I read them! I sleep, eat & bath in my pearls (okay, not literally). No outfit is complete without them! I was raised in the middle of nowhere. Even though I will always have my southern-girl charm, the beach is where I belong. Along with my sweet tea. Traveling clears my mind & feeds my curiosity. There’s nothing like exploring the world! I have the worst craving for sweets. I am so glad I learned to cook from my mama, especially since I am a wife now! I am convinced the best thing you can inherit from a southern woman is her frying pan! I am constantly reminded that through Christ I am blessed.

Expecting // Getting Ready

Why, Hello!

6 months of pregnancy. Holy Cow. I can not believe this pregnancy has gone by as fast as it has. At the moment things are a little overwhelming because I feel like there is just SO much to do! 6 months means its more than time to start on the nursery!

Months and months ago (WELL before I knew I was pregnant) I began pinning nursery stuff. I was immediately drawn to all the nautical things since we live close to the beach, but knew I wanted something different. Our home already consists of mostly nautical decor. After pinning away, I came across a circus elephant nursery and fell in love with it. After stalking the post and the photographer her self (also a Virginian), I decided this was going to be theme! I love the yellow, gray, white and touches of aqua. After talking to David and finding out we are having a boy, we have also decided to add small touches of orange and red. Staple colors at any circus but also to make the room a little more boy like.
Because I love photography and the nursery is in a darker area of the house, keeping the room light and airy is my main goal. Light carpet, Light walls and white furniture. Hopefully this will help to bounce around the available light in the room and allow dreamy photography. HERE are my ideas for now, though I’m excited to see what everything looks like in the end.

Upcoming projects:

- Paint room
- Sand, paint, and make knobs for dresser
- Choose fabric for flag quilt
- Create circus shower invites

Finished projects:

- Installed new carpet

Photos of the projects coming soon!

Warmly,
Dreama

Expecting // Baby Boy

Why, Hello!

Well…since I’ve shared the news everywhere else, I figured I’d announce on the  blog.

Yes, we are EXPECTING… baby number one! I still am in complete disbelief. I’d be lying if  I said I wasn’t terrified. I hope this explains why I have been so quiet on the blog for the past months. Because things are so new for me, these few months have been filled with lots of learning. Becoming a mother is something I have always dreamed of.

David and I couldn’t be more blessed to announce the arrival of our little BOY in September! Now on to the planning….

Double Bubble // Throwback Thursday

I have an obsession with gum.

That’s what David tells me anyway. I’m really not sure when I had the first piece of the pink, silky, bubbly stuff, but I love it. I specifically remember being a young young child and waiting for our elderly next door neighbor to come home from the grocery store with some Double Bubble. My sister and I would eagerly wait with our hands stuck through the chain link fence to see one brightly blue and yellow wrapped gum drop into our hands. Every now and then we would get two each, those were the best days!

I also remember my granny having gum every time I saw her. Wrigley’s juicy fruit was her absolute favorite. I imagine this is were the love of gum came from!

While I have moved on to other flavors of gum, there’s nothing that brings me back to my childhood more than Double Bubble!

Is there anything that brings you back to your childhood?

Forevergreen // Orchestrated Event

2012 has led me to places I thought I’d never go, but after experiencing the love of one special couple, I just had to branch out into wedding photography. I am still in the very early learning stages. Weddings can be so much fun, can offer so many interesting details to photograph, but an event that shouldn’t be taken lightly. I’m not sure if my caution comes from being a bride and knowing how important those images are, or knowing that the experience means everything. Shooting a wedding is nothing to take lightly, preparation and experience mean everything.

I have set a goal to second shoot several weddings before booking my own. So far I’ve only been able to shoot one, but I am very hopeful for what 2013 has in store for me.

This is where Orchestrated Events came in. When I heard of the little details, I was so excited! Every chance I get to rent, practice and add to my portfolio, is a great experience. The women behind Orchestrated certainty leave no detail unfinished. From the decor, to the food, and flowers. The vendors were just as amazing! Especially the food, I have never had a finer meal or experience.

Crazy hair // Throwback Thursday

Hey Y’all!

Tonight I am writing my first post of Throwback Thursday! I am so excited to share different things that come to mind in the Thursdays to come.

Other than my name, my hair has always been the topic of conversation, how poofy it was, how nappy, how white, how slightly curly/wavy it is. My hair was the brunt of every bad joke. The reason behind every nickname (Cinderella, Snow white etc.,) Even now people don’t believe how insane my hair used to be. I tell them I was born with an afro, they giggle and look at me like , “Yea Right!”

Hours were spent crying after showers because it was so tangled. Every kind of frizz control was purchased and dumped on my hair and none of them helped. If you made the mistake of brushing my hair with a circle brush, you’d wind up spending days trying to get it out or you’d have to cut it. Let’s not even mention what happened when got gum in it!

There also was a year that I was Cinderella (who was I fooling) for Halloween, and my mother got the great idea to spray hot pink washable spray in my hair. Well guess what? It didn’t wash out, it grew out! I was SO embarrassed in elementary school, back then children, especially at my age, didn’t have hot pink hair!

I went through strange stages with my hair, I had an obsession with head bands, for most of middle school and all of high school I would only wear it in a bun, unless on a whim I scrunched it. I remember the day of my High School graduation, I had my hair straightened and wore it down, that day I had so many oohs and aahhs.

Over the years I have grown to learn my hair has to be long, how to properly straighten it, to expect the tangles, but ultimately I am thankful that it isn’t as crazy as it used to be! I truly hope that my future children wont have the crazy mane of hair that I had growing up!

Now, it’s time for the most embarrassing years of my life, including but not limited to the clothes that my mother used to make for me. Go, go laugh, because this is the first and last time you will see these horrid things. :)

Yes, the gotta love those bangs!

Pretty sure I pitched a fit to wear the dress I had on once I saw my sister in it.

Hope yall enjoyed the laughs! Until next Thursday.
